As per 'I Am Milk's suggestion, a bunch of PHers and likeminded petrolheads have organised a little car meet in St Neots at Riverside Car Park, 10am this Saturday. This is the first meet and we'll gauge interest levels and decide whether to keep it Saturdays or switch to Sundays, and make the meet the first Sat or Sun of each month.

Riverside car park map here:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Car+Park,+St+N...

The Ambiance Cafe in the same car park cafe serves coffee, snacks, lunch etc, open from 9am. If your car is ultra low you will need to be careful coming up into the carpark as there is a slope, but it's no problem for a Ferrari 360/430 to get in and out.

It is a P&D car park, 40p or 60p an hour I think, so bring some change.

All are welcome no matter what you drive.

Current attendees listed below, please add your name if you'd like to come along, or just turn up on the day.

Offshoreeddy - Ferrari 360 or Ferrari 430
MattNovak - Maserati Gran Turismo and / or Porsche 987 Boxster
feef - Citroen C6 or Supercharged MX5
Forthright MC - Wandering
sandysinclair - Murcielago
FairfieldSteve - TVR Chimaera
Thurbs - M5
I Am Milk - Cobra or Mini Cooper S
LewG - Chimaera or XJR

I'll get along if the nephew fancies it - slowly getting into loving his cars, I'm sure seeing some rarer metal (and plastic) up close will only boost his enthusiasm. And I need some motivation to clean the car!

Of the two days this weekend early Feb, Sunday seems far better ?

I really like the sound of this meeting and when spring summer is here should be very nice, like someone else said in the other post 'Cars by the river'. Cafe owner will love the extra trade!

Well if Saturday really is dire, then we can always bump to Sunday instead. I'm not a great believer in weather forecasts, so let's see what we get and go from there. Everyone seems pretty flexible with a bump to Sunday if needs be.

I will bail at biblical rain I'm afraid.
Sunday is the PH Sunday Service which I'm lucky enough to get a space on.

Hoping for decent weather, will be nice to have a regular local meet!

Really enjoyed the Carpool Steve, and i considered a Chim but the SLK55 won it for das German robustness and pure HP but if i could own both i would ! Also wanted a hardtop. V But i can fully appreciate the ownership experince of a TVR. Maybe one day.

Look forward to meeting you and the Chim someday. Judging by your username you must be on fairfield Park, i gew up in Stotfold. Such a small world.

Adam.

As 'Cars and Coffee' seems to have become a specific 'brand' I wanted to use a different name, so "cars by the river" seemed more apt given the location

I'm hoping to run a larger event in the Regatta Meadow over the road during the summer, so it'd be nice to get things moving with a regular meet at the Riverside carpark, and as you say, the Ambience can only win from it (Their all-day breakfasts are pretty good)

It's the cheapest P&D carpark in town, but you can also pay via the app if you don't have change

If we move to Sundays in the future, then parking is free, but I'm not sure if the Ambience cafe is open early on a Sunday (although I'm sure if demand is there, then they would)

Tomorrow's weather looks atrocious. It may be worth moving the meet to Sunday.

Agree on the weather though it does seem to change daily.
If it moves to a Sunday then I won't be able to make any of them which would be a shame but happy to go with the majority.

Depends which forecast you read, it's such an unstable weather system that I think they are guessing now, that being said, while breezy, and a high chance of rain, the volume of rain is showing as less than 1mm in many reports, so might not be as bad as it looks

Sunday would be my preferred day due to other things, but I think we're established enough on Saturday that it could just throw a spanner in the works for anyone who is fancying coming along but maybe isn't following the thread religiously

Stick to Saturday and take it from there for future meets?

I say let's see how the morning looks. Damp, I don't mind. A bit of rain, I don't mind. A downpour ... I think everyone minds smile
