Has anyone been down this road recently... from the M1-A1.

What a shower of st that resurfacing is. It used to be a great road to drive down and they have ruined it.

Yes, done it a couple of times recently and totally agree. At least the first bit leaving/joining the M1 is still good driving

They must have had some left over as they've also done the A1001 from Tesco roundabout (Hatfield). That was so bad the other night that it looked like a Sahara sand storm. I honestly thought they'd been a fire somewhere when I first hit that stretch as visibility was shocking, then I realised. I diverted into Tesco car park and gave it a wide berth. Got enough stone chips on the VXR8 as it is...

Yes. Apparently road re-surfacing in Hertfordshire involves simply dumping a load of gravel down job done.

I drove down it yesterday. Standard cheapo repair job.
Stick some tar down and throw a load of loose stones on top. Job done.

seems to be a campaign of this at the moment in that part of Herts, its everywhere. Such a horrible road surface, so noisy too!
I guess its cheap and quick. Always notice the improvement in road surface as you drive out of herts in Beds...

Gravel rally experience, what not to like (except the slow dodderers getting in the way)

I noticed that parts of the A10 north of Cheshunt are like this now too.

Loads of roads in Hertfordshire and surrounding are all chippings chipping paintwork and screens councils should be sued for damage to our cars.
A10 was terrible a few days ago dust stones flying up everywhere.
You try to drive slow but then you get a Twit tear past pulling in front of you spraying stones.
Bloody annoying.

Stone chipped windscreen as a direct result of the same treatment to the A41.

Try cycling on that crap ! Downright dangerous to say nothing of the bullets that get fired at you as cars pass.....a bad practice that should be ditched !

not just Herts - it's everywhere !

Councils do it as it's a cheap way of 'maintaining the road surface' - summer heat makes it easier / quicker / cheaper for them to apply it

Sucks though

I was driving down the A414 as they were doing it. Never driven so slow in my GT3 !
