What's happened to the crop in the field just south and west of your junction with the A1? Some large cleared patches so was wondering if they are crop circles...

I was walking those fields with my neighbour last week and asked this. He says they're suffering 'black grass' at the moment and have been cutting it out. There's a lot of loss on the crops unfortunately.

Yeap, sprayed off Black Grass. It's horrible stuff. Quite a few of Squires' fields out that way have suffered infestations again this season....

It's getting more resistant to seasonal sprays too, so wider scale ploughing could be the best cultural control in the Autumn drilling period. (That's what stubble burning would have sorted out a treat!)

Theres some nice ripe looking winter Barley along the B645 out toward your village Sam. I'm keeping a close eye on it as it should be harvested in the next week or so fingers crossed!

A random one last night.
Went to drop off an old sofa at the charity furniture place in Kiln Farm and this was parked opposite.
Had a Rover V8 and a bottle of NOS strapped in the back.
The guy in the garage where it was parked also had a Fiat Topolino drag racer in progress - target 190mph!
