POTHOLES!! Name and Shame.
Discussion
Bishops Stortford by-pass (A120) if there isn't an accident there it will be a miracle as people try to swerve, especially eastbound where the dual carriageway goes down to 1 lane over the bridges you would've been doing 50-60mph on good 2 lane and come down to an area where there isn't room to avoid them.

I sent this link to the Highways, and requested permission to highlight the big potholes. Perhaps other people on here could also write to the person concerned, and also to your MP.....and since the snow melted, it looks like something from a 3rd world country.

I totally agree!Absoloute discrace round there at the moment. Especially in the dark, where the roads arent lit, which are most of them, lol.

THIS IS EXCELLENT, THANKS PPPPPP.
I would love to see the response you get from this, hopefully they might be shamed into action.
Also, they might do something about all the grit and stones that seem to be everywhere on the roads since the thaw.

I hit an absolutely huge pothole on the way in to Codicote earlier this evening. Huge bang followed by a completely deflated tyre. No idea what other damage it may have done. It's really not acceptable with the amount we spend on RFL every year.
For those that use the road, it's on the road in to Codicote from Welwyn just as you begin to go up hill and on a left hand bend.
I'll be contacting the council as soon as i've had a chance to go back there to take some photos.

Delighted to say that most of the pot holes on that particular road have been temporarily filled. Also, they might do something about all the grit and stones that seem to be everywhere on the roads since the thaw.
I suggest anyone with a complaint writes to the person I have mentioned + their local MP.

That section of road was closed yesterday, so hopefully it was being fixed........ properly. When I saw the whole of that carriageway was closed from the Bridge Road roundabout it looked promising but driving over it today it's the usual bodge of some tarmac shovelled into the hole and gently compacted. I give it 'til the end of next week before all the filling has come out leaving the holes open and adding to the loose debris on that road. Why the idle s can't actually close the road and resurface it properly before there's an accident is beyond me.
Benders.
Well my car now has a slow puncture and a damaged rim from a pothole in Moulsoe near Cranfield. I am sure more damage may of been done aswell. Got photos and witness' (another guy did the same after me) and am chasing the council today for a response.
To say I am annoyed is an understatement.

I wonder where you would stand compensation wise if you damaged your car hitting a pothole, or more importantly if you cmae off a motorbike.
I hit a pothole in the dark last night, and I thought my front suspension had disintergrated it made such a bang. Seems to drive normally though luckily.

Send an email and explain what happened. It may help if you find problems later (& someone has already reported the fault)I hit a pothole in the dark last night, and I thought my front suspension had disintergrated it made such a bang. Seems to drive normally though luckily.

Amen to that BiC.The road between The Gate pud and the railway bridge is always full of holes, some car shudderingly deep, let alone catching it with a motorbike.
This stretch from a few weeks ago, sorry haven't got any of the holes as that would be so nerdy in a way.
Here is the latest. I would suggest you guys write to your MP & and also to the guy who wants to be the next PM.

Fix the bloody roads, or let the people fix them.
Nature may have been partly responsible for the pot holes, but how quickly we solved banking man made issues, and go off to fix the roads in Kabul & Baghdad.

I admire your efforts, but I think it would be naive to think that anything will actually be done about this.
Firstly there just isn't the money around at the moment. For many years now in the St. Albans area, roads don't get re-laid, they just get patched up at best.
Secondly you are trying to get action out of the public sector. It should be clear by now that the public sector don't ever actually 'DO' stuff, they just 'record' or 'report' stuff. (Police are a good example of this) Most seem to think just turning up and clocking in each day is more than enough.
Also I believe there has been a campaign going in the St. Albans area for a couple of years called R.O.A.R. (Repair our awful roads) or something like that. Where has that got us ?

I posted this a couple of months ago.
"A mate who works for St. Albans council says something about them routinely denying planning permission to developers unless they agree to resurface a few roads first. The developers bargain away at the number of roads they have to resurface until they get their planning permission. Apparently this is why it takes millennia for roads to be repaired in St. Albans."
St. Albans roads are atrocious, and have been for years, but nobody seems to really care. I think it's engrained in the British ideology not to complain or, when we do, feel very embarrassed/apologetic about it.
I personally see no problem going out with a yellow spray can and highlighting all the large pot holes. It's not like anyone from the coucil is going to do it.
