We are certainly paying the price for it now, as people from all corners of the former Empire turn up on our doorstep claiming asylum, free stuff, human rights and compensation... and we are stupid enough to hand it over. Wot mugs we are.It is remarkable how a nation's personality can change with time. The lazy Italians once had the mighty Roman Empire, the bankrupt Greeks once had the mighty Greek Empire; Spain, France, Portugal, Holland - all have carved out lumps of the world in past days and done a sight more damage than we did. I heard today that there is a 'human right' to have a family. Well as I don't have one, can I ask the Govt to send me a nice blonde wife-type person? And if they refuse, can I take them to the European Court of Human Rights and get compensation?
Ah no, I'm a resident and don't get legal aid. Silly me. Up the arse it is then.
