Several years ago I had the bright idea of converting my inboard Norman Cruiser to an outboard, so rushed out to buy a used outboard.

Cue 15 years later and I uncover said outboard in the garage after a tidy out and decide to sell it - trouble is, I have no idea what it is!!! I seem to recall it was a 20hp or 25hp long shaft, electric start, did have remotes but now lost, but that's about it. No engine number visible anywhere, and the cover has been resprayed at some point.

So - over to the experts:

The case certainly looks like an Evinrude design circa the 90's

I would also say Evinrude. Strange, my neighbour just bought an old rib with a 15hp Evinrude on it.

or a Johnson as they were pretty much badge engineered under the ownership of OMC ( and the brand names are now owned by Bombardier)

I'm not very good st this sort of thing but I would guess at it being a Johnson 28hp circa 1962-64.

In fact were you to find the model number stamped anywhere I could tell you the year of build utilising a simple formula to convert the word |INTRODUCES| into manufacture year

Possibly.

Fairly sure that is not a 60s outboard, as said more like a early 90s Johnson / Rude .
