I guess in the way that Concorde and the QE2 were fantastic to look at, almost if not actually art, where the 380 and that ship look like over weight blobs.

Art and aestheitcs is one thing. Capability, economics etc are another.

I love Grand Prix cars from the mid 1960s. But they would be wiped the floor with by modern GP cars.

Concorde still looks modern even today.

It would not look out of place as a new build straight out of production 2012.

Obviously with Full Glass cockpit 2 crew etc etc.

I agree on all points, they are lovely old things though, these days everything is getting bland, look down your street, most all cars are grey/silver now as they are 'safe' colours, we need more orange and yellow on the road!

There's no direct affiliation between the two.
There's one. IAG used BA money to buy Iberia. Except you try getting Iberia to admit that. wink

Because the QE2 & Concorde look amazing, modern & incredibly impressive. The A380 is about as exciting & interesting to look at as a cheap fridge.

It may not look exiting but there will be more high-tec equipment and materials in the A380 than Concorde. The Concorde design was frozen around 1969. You can't expect its technology to be as advanced as a modern airliner - even if it could fly faster than sound.

Modern technology is hidden and taken for granted - but that doesn't mean we've regressed.

If the Vulcan can be still be flown why not Concorde?

I know it's just a pipe-dream but wouldnt it be good to see a piece of engineering genius back in the air where she belongs?

I don't care because the airbus is about as exciting as a bus & Concorde is rather more excellent.

No comparison.

This old adage gets dragged up every time someone utters the word "Concorde" on PH. It's been debated and explained to death, Concorde CANNOT be flown without authorisation from the type certificate holder i.e Airbus. This will not be forthcoming so Concorde CANNOT be flown again.
