Am I missing something here or is this a massive bargain?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120859807322?ssPageName=...

Oddly a search of the builder ( Karl Vertans ) brings up next to nothing.

I have no interest and can prove that by buying the boat if you lend me £70k thumbup

I know, I saw that, and I think it is even more on another brokers site.

If I had 70 large I would buy that and live on it in Preston Marina. Like Cap'n Bob.

I don't know if the same is true at that end of the market, but down in the cheap seats, if you take a boat to a broker they will sell it quickly for, say, £9,000 but if you advertise it privately for £7,000, nobody's interested. Odd.

Mind you this eBay seller does appear to be such an illiterate goon that it doesn't inspire confidence!

Very nice. Does look like a lot of boat for the money.

One thing, that Yamaha on the RIB definitely isn't 2006! That's a 1980's engine. The RIB may well be 2006 though.

Sounds a bit iffy to me - seller has 3 feedback, and is asking for an immediate bankers draft of 25% on close of auction, full payment by bankers draft within 48 hours.

I'd be more concerned about it being a 30 year old ply over hardwood frames myself and having engines that have never been run. Wonder if the strip down and repaint they were talking about showed up a few rotten bits so it got patched up quickly and put up for sale.

My experience of ply over hardwood frame boats from 60's and 70's was it was a cheep way to build but had lots of downsides if the waterproof seal fails in anyway, wet ply isn't very strong!

You'd be mad to bid on that without having your own survey carried out.

If he wants to sell it by auction he needs to put his survey up on the site and have an agreement with the surveyor that the survey rights are assigned to the winning bidder on sale.

Absolutely right.

I reckon the ebay listing is a scam.

That boat is a liability, not an asset.

I messaged the person.

There is a 2011 survey and a 2006 survey, he/she also said that they would have no problem with the winner withholding payment until they have their own survey done.

Seems legit and appears to have very little to hide.

Someone lend me £70k, pretty pretty please.
