I have been following this guy for a while, he actually works for a client of ours, Avianca in Colombia.

He uses a GoPro HD which has made me get one to film some of my cirrus flights, but I am not having the same results!

Regarding the control inputs, I flew the A380 and the A320 sims in TOulouse and I found I was putting in massing sidestick inputs to get any roll at all, on approach. During higher speed flight its fine. I remember that 727's have low speed ailrons which are only active after a flap setting has been selected.
Bit odd, regardless of the speed, the roll rate will be the same so you shouldn't have to work any harder.

Aircraft use roll spoilers for high speed flight to alleviate control reversal, low speed is fine for aileron use. Perhaps it felt more aggressive on approach because you are making a input to keep wings level rather than actually turn.

Notice a turn at altitude, it's always sedate and slow. Gusty approach and we tend to intuitively apply a faster more responsive roll rate ie you were pushing the stick further left/right making you feel like you were putting in that 'massive' input. As Scarebus says, an easy thing to do when in reality we might not need to do so. I'm also guilty of 'stirring the pot' on a windy approach, but then my excuse is it makes me feel like I'm actually flying the thing, and I'm sticking to that wink

Oh and gopro take some feckin practice to when it comes to getting a good result biggrin

As a former Airbus pilot, myself and a few colleagues have watched this clip and all reckoned there's a lot of stirring go on!

The airbus is quite a subtle aircraft when it comes to manual flight - like scarebus mentioned, little input is required even in gusty conditions and it is very easy to overcorrect a deviation to the flight path.

In both examples / clips, it's hard to really tell what the weather conditions were like in terms of thermals, gusts, up draughts etc - but there does seem to be a lot of unnecessary inputs going on there!

Great clip otherwise tho!

sounds like the computer is calling him a retard at 25 seconds? Noticed it on another video as well. Seems a bit rude biggrin

Just does not look right controlling something that big with the same joystick that I had with my first Windows home PC.
