I had just got off the train in Arlesey Bedfordshire & I heard it, immediately recognising the noise... She cruised over at 1500 feet or so, just below the murk.
Spitfire IX I believe, Canon armed.

Possibly MH434, heading to/from Duxford.

Lovely to see & hear! After a long central London meeting..made my day. smile

I have yet to see my first Spit of the year, it's usually around this time. Spells the start of summer.

It's been buzzing overhead all afternoon between Bucks and Bicester where I live. Needless to say, I've had a fantastic afternoon at a free garden air show. It's with a chopper too so I guess theyre filming something.

I'm sure you are right of course but the second "Spit" looks "Hurricane-ish" to me

Were there two?

Squarer wing tips, more tapered mainplanes. The first picture shows the definitive elliptical planform, number two doesn't seem to.

I would have guessed that you have been doubly blessed dammit frown

Anyway

colour me jealous

I agree, certainly has a Hurricane silhouette about it. Larger vertical stabiliser & rudder.

My siting was only of the Spit, so very nice if you saw both!

Quite possible, I was going from the sound more than anything.

Last Summer for a few evenings one week a Spitfire used to come out and perform aerobatics. Too busy and slow to get a camera out, but it was great. Locations not too far from Waddo.

Worst i've got a pool post ever!

There was a Hurricane & Spitfire flying around Bicester airfield Thursday afternoon doing circuits for a couple of hours.

Love the sound of spitfires.

Great planes, and great shots both of you!
