Looking to do something for our team this summer and have for the last couple of years fancied chartering a couple of nice motor yachts for the day.

A couple of years ago I started a similar thread with some loose offers from PHers of a day onboard theirs but stupidly never followed it up.

Then last year I even contacted Sunseeker Charters (High Energy was the yacht quoted for I think) but quote for two consecutive days charter with availability in the evening for 30+ whilst moored at Poole Quay for fireworks was eye-watering!

So this year I am determined to actually pull my finger out and organise a Yacht Charter day. We have a team of 20 so would need two boats for one day. Pick up preferably from Poole (but could go as far along as Southampton to the East or Portland to the West for departure / return). Plan quite flexible and open to suggestions but thinking maybe go to Cowes for lunch at a nice restaurant, and basically chill for the day with a beer or two to be back by 5ish. Would be nice to finish off with a beach BBQ on an evening if weather holds up.

So over to PH - anyone with their own yacht along South Coast or know of someone with a nice one? Happy to negotiate remuneration for skipper on the day and would of course cover all costs - not sure how this works with insurance, damage deposits, etc so happy to do by PM.

Thanks Paddy, just had a look at their website. Looks good and caters for up to 18 on the one yacht.

Would be ideal for our younger members to get involved in the sailing, but our team ranges from age 18 to age 73 so would I be wrong in thinking it looks a little energetic? Plus now I think about it we have 2 pregnant ladies so maybe I will have to check!

I believe you are meant to sit there and Lord it up.
Zero efforts, and tbh a boat that big can be sailed by 3 or 4 people.

you could do as much or as little as you want

i can certainly put you in touch with the skipper of bare necessities who is a former colleague of mine.

bounty is absolutely stunning. we rebuilt her and the lengths they went to is remarkable.

seafin is great value as a floating platform to get hammered aboard. they have jetskiis aboard and i've had great piss-ups aboard her.

you could look at 'rum jungle' (http://www.rumjungle.co.uk/). she's a great boat and they are very professional. unlikely to be super-cheap, but worth an enquiry.

if you want to go truly left-field, we have just supplied the former team russia volvo 70 to the chaps at project racing (operating out of ocean village) - http://www.projectracing.co.uk/. she went in the water yesterday and is busy being readied for the round the island race. i'm not sure if they are going to do corporate stuff with her, but if they are, it would be absolutely awesome.

hope this helps.

You could do this on one of the Volvos. Not entirely sure that the pregnant ladies would be up for it though.......

Dan, not sure if you are just considering stickies rather than raggies....however if you do go down the raggie route (probably much cheaper) you could try Arnie at Lymington Yacht Charters, he has some nice boats..
