Modern civil aircraft *yawn*

I know it's not easy to get high quality prints from those transparencies, 'specially given the way film stock changes over time
So
Thanks for them, they are great. Bet Eric knew that Aer Lingus 707 personally
Sorry Eric, just irresistable mate
For all my love of aircraft designed to make things go whoooooshbangoops, I really love the commercial aviation field. Those are the pictures that should fill the background of the soundtrack of my life
Remember the flanging "metal wearing away metal" noise of the wonderful R.R Dart Turboprop engines
Magic
Notice how the Caravelle front end looks so much like a.....?

I don't think there is an aviation museum at Hatfield itself. But there is a De Havilland museum near London Colney nearby.

The dear old pocket rocket, so much noise in such a small package
Thanks for these, don't they take you back huh...
Eric was Comet a regular over there in to Dublin
D'you know, I never saw a "live" Comet
Too bloody late now
Don't think Nimrod counts really
I didn't start becoming a regular spotter at Dublin until 1972 and by then BEA had retired their Comets from scheduled services. Any remaining BEA Comets were with BEA Airtours and they were rarely seen at Dublin. Dan Air would send the odd one in on an inclusive tour charter right up until they were retired in 1980.Thanks for these, don't they take you back huh...

More to come this evening!!
Re the comet
Saw the first scheduled flight from Heathrow in 1952 (RTL or RTW from Tottenham garage on a LT excursion) all parked up where T1 is now
Saw the first 747
Saw the first concorde Take off
And the last scheduled landing
Suppose i am a bit lucky as the old girl went over the house everyday
Got a onderful video of it on appraoach (taken at Jealots Hill N of Bracknell) circling around and dropping its gear
even our old Lab used to run out the house and look up!!
In 1960 They used to run guided tours of Heathrow from the Queens Bldg 2/6
It went on 'hallowed' ground as back the the southern part of the perimeter road was not in public use and that ws where some of the freight aircraft parked up ,and then did Northside Nissen huts (Long Haul arrivals) where Quantas/Air India Connies and the odd Stratocruiser were seen
I still have 1960 and 1962 Ian Allen Reg book, will try and find that ( and my 1960 BR combined volume... but thats another story)

lovely stuff
I reckon if they made the DC8 much longer you could board at the back, walk along the fuselage and exit from the front in Ibiza or the Canaries (or Florida) without even starting the engines
keep 'em coming
(I missed these last night, out necking a few with the boys at the Midget and Sprite club)
