Anyone going to be heading down to Eastbourne for the air show next weekend? Well if you're in two minds here's something that might sway you...

The Vulcan is going to be appearing at Airbourne for the first time, can't wait!

Iought about this the other day and then found the vulcan is going so I will be there. I think the Vulcan is appearing only on the Saturday though but prepared to be advised differently.

No appearance by the Red Arrows this year though. Think it is the first time they have missed it, but they are abroad.

Sadly the B-17 Flying Fortress, Sally B, has been cancelled due to Olympic air space restrictions but everything else is still flying and we’re looking forward to another fantastic airshow to celebrate Airbourne’s 20th Anniversary!

Above information taken from the Airbourne Facebook page.

As much as I love the Vulcan, I can't see the point in going now. Fast jets are my thing, and are sadly a minority at this years event.

Why cant Sally B fly due to Olympic air space restrictions? They worried someone will have rearmed it? Wonder if the Vulcan will do a fly past of the Olympic Park?!

Something to do with where it is based being in the exclusion zone.

Daft, very, very daft.

ETA Info from their Facebook page:

The Sally B flies out of Biggin Hill and this is in the Olympic no-fly air space, an alternative airport was arranged but the B-17 did not want to be based there. However all other aircraft are out of the no-fly zone.

Thats strange as on Sally B's page http://www.sallyb.org.uk/index.php?_a=viewDoc&... it states "Eastbourne organisers have cancelled our B-17's display on both days. The reason given is Olympics restrictions. We would have loved to participate but it is out of our hands"

I though the Olympic Restrictions allowed planes to fly but they had to file flight plans etc

Most odd. Some sort of fallout along the way perhaps? Who knows.

Found some times on the Airshows forum. No idea how accurate they are- the poster on there said they are from the local paper.

Only thing heard but not seen today was a fast jet at around 15-00, which made a few passes. Not long after, the sun came out and all the clag cleared. Needs to do it a lot earlier tomorrow. Was quite misty in Eastbourne just before dark tonight. Noticed on Lydd webcam that it was sunny everytime I looked today and spoke to someone who had just been to Bexhill earlier this afternoon and sunny there also. Shoreham webcam looked very misty early this evening.

14-04 - Hunter
15-02 - BBMF
15-42 - Lynx
15-52 - Gnats
16-19 - JP
16-46 - Chinook
17-13 - Vulcan
17-23 - Tornado GR.4s
17-47 - ME-109 + Spitfire

Sunday
13-30 - Sea King

Is the large car park by the Beachy Head pub the best place to park / viewing point? I presume the car park must get quite busy though?

I may pop into to the Toyota garage to have a look at the GT86 and then head up there tomorrow.

They turned the fields into car parks last time we went. It was a nightmare getting out.
