The temperature rig for the TSR2 is sitting outside Farnborough Technical College at the moment.

Yet it's at Brooklands where you can see so many concrete TSR2 moulds lying around in the grass...

A sad story, but so much myth and legend other the years and so little truth.
EhIs that serious? I said I was put right by those who know better, but the nose is definitely there at Brooklands, just near the front of the Concorde. Another part of our great jet legacy.

What a fantastic programme. Best bit of TV I've seen for a long time. No patronising twaddle. Best of all no adverts so they didn't make a 30 minute programme into an hour one by doing the recap every 10 minutes.

Thank you BBC 4 - my licence fee was well spent. More please.

Watching last night, and early in the programme, there was a clip of some dramatisation or another where - and I mentioned it to mrs k at the time - Dennis Bancroft appeared to play himself in the scene.

Was I imagining it?

BTW, Dennis was a senior aerodynamicist at Miles aircraft; story here:

Miles M.52

Is what serious?

As Eric mentioned the nose section moved elsewhere (for a radome to be fitted) - not sure if it's come back yet.

I cycled past the college a couple of weeks ago and it was still outside then. I'll have a look again today.

It's easier to stop and look when on the bike. I might even take a photo if it's there.

I checked this morning and it is definitely still there. I'll post up some pictures later on today when I get back to my normal computer.

42 mins in is footage of Sea Vixens, Buccs and Gannets. It's from Farnborough 1966 and my old man is flying the Gannet at the far right.

This programme is relevant to my interests.

Great talking heads from two chaps who trained and flew with my grandfather. He was a fighter instructor, but Tony Blackman took him up in a Vulcan and let him have a go.

I really should get round to recording my grandfather's experiences.

Here are the pictures I took on Friday of the TSR2 temperature test article. It is "stored" at the moment in a compound at the rear of Farnborough Technical College. It has been outside for the best part of a year now, which I am sure is not the best place for it.

Cosford has a nice collection of weird and wonderful British aircraft.

Loved Jet!, especially seeing the TSR2. Gawped at it many times at Duxford - beautiful thing. This link to a video about its cancellation (from the thread linked above) is a great watch, but an epic pissboiler. Don't say you weren't warned.

A badly flawed documentary, just bear in mind it's entirely one-sided. You could write an equally damning documentary that completely trashed the aircraft.
