That's Jon olsson btw, Used to post on here now and then. Coverted an Ultima to a one-off which looked pretty awesome, and did a limited build diary (he got someone else to actually do the build) but I think it got destroyed in a fire a couple of years back?http://jon-olsson.com/cars/
Found this channel on Youtube, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGpdSarF_FdCygiA1...
It’s got some really nice time laps films of life on a container ship and tours of various parts of the ship all made by a member of the crew (trainee officer I think).
I think one of the videos has already been posted in the Youtube thread in the lounge, but I thought it was worth posting a link to the whole channel here

This is pretty innovative - it's a promotional video from a superyacht builder which in itself is nothing new.
But rather than loads of 30 knot helicopter shots and young models in swim wear, you barely see the outside, instead it follows three generations of a family on board.
The way it's shot is pretty clever too - it appears to be seamless and mostly follows the crew around the yacht.

It's clocked up close to 100,000 hits in a month, which is pretty good going for a promo video.

Very nice...buthttps://youtu.be/SynlkFVfMIU
Can someone explain to me why you would build using 3 layers of wood at different angles then cover it in fibreglass and filler. Why not just build it from GF.

To build in composite, you need a mould, to have a mould you need a buck. Not viable for a one off.Can someone explain to me why you would build using 3 layers of wood at different angles then cover it in fibreglass and filler. Why not just build it from GF.

The wood at different angles gives strength in different directions (I think you understand wood is not a homogenous material), the process in the video is both the buck and the first boat.
Remember Howards Way? The first Barracuda 45 was just like the vid, then used as a buck to create a mould for the subsequent ones, then became hull 1.
Not had the volvo ocean race chase through the spectator boats yet?
