Bit simplistic, I know several Iranians who have fled in recent years due to the lunacy.
Bet they still believe in god though wink

If 90% of them hate their Govt why don't they do something about it? Rake up some AK47s and take over etc.
I, for one, would donate £50 to send Simpo One - Club Class, let's not cut corners - direct to Tehran so that he can lead the counter-revolution from the pointy end.

After all, I'm sure he'd be keen to do so, rather than be seen as some form of arm-chair harsewhype, happy to spout forth about how they should go about dealing with their own brutally repressive regimes, without actually having some of his own skin in the game.

They tried doing that 4 years ago but eventually failed. The government and the basiji's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basij ) pretty much did everything in their power to stop the opposition.

The main problem now is that the people are either too scared or have learnt to live with it.

Fond memories of Iran where I went to school until we had to leave in somewhat of a hurry come the revolution. My dad worked on contract for the Irainian Air Force and we all loved living there - great people and a beautiful country, so it's a real shame what's happened to it.

Bad day at the office Ed?

ATEOTD it's not my country. How about building a bloody great wall around the whole damn area and let them fight each other to the death without bothering the rest of the world.

Ed will now propose his own, superior and better theory.

ETA: I should add that fomenting instability was and is a common tool of foreign policy. Perhaps we should spend less time (and money we don't have) worrying about other countries and concentrate on getting our own working first.

Possibly a stupid question, but why are the warning and other signs such as DANGER wrote in English considering it is an 'aircraft' from Iran?

Health and Safety gets everywhere - lets the non natives know about this trip hazard. Simpo, IRIAF could probably rustle up 3 sqrns of cack pilots. And aircraft to match.

Somebody asked for this to be put in scale models section. I disagree. There's much more talent displayed in the scale models section than went into this heap of steaming st.

Agreed - the structure of the inside walls and coaming of the cockpit bear more of a resemblance to something you'd find on a fairground ride than a good scale model smile

Does anyone know what the Iranians actually described it as? Surely something's been lost in translation: they can't expect anyone to believe this is a real prototype?

I hear they've developed a sea plane version.

I've probably missed a sarcastic undertone here, but I do hate it when people think this way.

Well, if anyone has a good idea to solve the 'Middle East Problem' - bearing in mind they've been scrapping for 2,000 years - they're welcome to suggest it. Either fix it or walk away is my view smile

No, Dougal, that miniature stealth fighter mockup is very close....

Seems to have been designed for stumpy hobbits.
I didn't think it was possible to convey massive embarrassment in a full flight helmet and goggles, but now I know that it is.

Hopefully a higher resolution picture to laugh at analyse. It would appear that quite a lot of fibreglass went into building that, it also seems that there is no room for the pilot's legs!

It was decided that it would be unveiled in a local gymnasium as they were concerned about the plane getting prematurely airborne, as it was forecast to be a bit breezy that day.
Anyone else notice that the air speed indicator red lines at 250 kts?

If that were a PH'ers summer project, or some sort of scrapheap challenge then I would be impressed. If slightly scared.

Wouldn't want the job of winding the rubber band up.

'ave you're bloody fingers off that!
