Pffftt, that's nothing. I've developed a boat that will do 200mph from solar power!
Sorry - it's already been done. The current record stands at 317mph.It took several million years to convert the solar power, via photosynthesis and compression under millions of tonnes of rock, into a useable form, mind you, but still...
More details here:

The 46XP (which looks like this uses the same hull) has a 304 US gallon tank (1150 litres). So that would be about £1,500 a fill at forecourt prices – more from the marina – even more for 98 RON. That would get you about 300 miles depending on engines and usage.

The AMG electric drive, on the other hand, is quoting a maximum output of 1656kW and and energy content for its batteries of 240kWh.By my fag-packet calculation (and assuming 90% efficiency from the motors), I reckon that would give you about 8 minutes at full throttle?
Flat out at 99mph, that'd get you about 13 miles, tops?
For me, the only point to boats of this nature is the absolutely wonderful, spine-tingling noise they make. Unfortunately, this gets rid of that!
I've always maintained that you can take any engine, the best sounding engine from any car, and if you put it in a boat it sounds ten-times nicer! My guess is it has to do with the way the sound reverberates off the water. Ahh, the burble of a blown big-block Chevy pulling away from the boat ramp!

Straight pipes with only the addition of cooling water at the end so a bit different to most cars, also you'd be surprised how much is added to that engine sound when running by surface piercing props and rotating machinery behind it, but burbles.I've always maintained that you can take any engine, the best sounding engine from any car, and if you put it in a boat it sounds ten-times nicer! V8 BBC
V10 Ilmor
or
V12 Lambo.
All unique but I'd struggle to pick. There's even the odd diesel that can hold themselves up there.

Boats seem like an ideal medium to exploit the advantages of electric over fuel.
The downside is that - at sea, and along with aircraft - they're the one form of transport where you really, really can't afford an unexpected loss of power. You would therefore either need a substantial IC auxiliary engine, or to hold enough battery capacity in reserve that the already abysmal range becomes even more restricted.Electric outboards have been in use for years, mind you, and are very successful as trolling motors on small boats for fishing - opposite end of the speed/range spectrum from offshore powerboats, though.
