Anyone know what time the roads are closing?
Doubt the A57 will close at all however traffic will be a mare at least an hour before the flypast, roads upto the Dams themselves will probably be closed all day.
Was thinking of a pre-dawn insertion, followed by a walk up to a decent vantage point.
Coming from essex so thinking the same, a slog up for silly am, but can be done, just hope theres a wagon nearby for breakfast

Not until next week for me. Any chance you can get the driver to do a roll as you cross the wall....or go through with the burners lit?

we'll bring a pair down the dams run tomorrow afternoon before nipping into Scampton. Can't give more specific timings I'm afraid but we'll do our best to pitch up and wave smile

Can't really do either of those I'm afraid... A jet should be popping through the Dams on Monday (not me though) and then the flypast proper is on Thurs smile

Fair comment, but worth a try.

Are you flying on Thursday then? If so, can you tell us how many passes over then dam wall you'll be making? Thanks.

Good to know you guys have plenty to do must have been a fun run down the country for you today, didn't see either of you probably due to the poor weather over Derbyshire this afternoon but hope to see you after the BBMF on the 16th. If you see a little lad in a blue coat get the driver to waggle the wings so he can make his little sister jealous.

If all goes to plan I'm not doing Thurs - I'm the reserve! GRs should do three passes, BBMF two. Ladybower or Chatsworth will be the places to view from IMHO

Anyone manage to get photographs? Please post them if you did.

I would have loved to have seen this, great spectacle to see a Lancaster back over Ladybower.
Shes not due for a week yet , I know she fly's slow and low but even so photos from this run are a bit premature. I've got some photos from 5 years ago although not very close as the longest lens I had with me was 70mm.
Thanks. Clearly I was prematurely excited about this prospect.

Did biking up that side not work out? The tracks look like they might give good views from the map which was going to be my plan.

Currently plan B is take the bikes, which is great for getting from the car to the Dam wall, but you can't then take them up the hill: it's a) steep, and b) a footpath. It would be a question of chaining them to a tree and leaving them.

Then there's the uncertainty of how close we'll be able to get: at 10:30, will Fairhomes or the car parks on the Fairhomes road be already full? If they're not, then it's fine, just walk up the hill. If they're shut it's at least an hour of walking.

Question for those who know the area, which side of the dam will be best to view/take photos from?

East side in terms of sun position I think (noted this a couple of weeks ago while biking out there).
