10 miles From the dams at the moment, weather for the past 2 days has been choppy from bright and sunny to snow and hail storms, forecast for tomorrow is light winds, broken cloud with chances of rain increasing as the day goes on, daytime max temp 11 degrees. I still plan on going, cloud cover wont be total and should be moderately high, winds of 10mph or less over the dams, providing they can get in the air I anticipate the BBMF will be there and 617Sq where out practicing last week in much worse than what is forecast.

BBMF try to avoid flying in the rain due to the damage it inflicts on the wooden propellers. Hopefully the weather forecast improves.

Just thought i'd add, spotted a Tornado flying pleasingly low over Holmfirth in the direction of Ladybower on Monday, obviously doing a dry run.

We are definitely still planning to do the flypast tomorrow - I'm sat authorising another flypast as we speak! And the jets down near Ladybower/Chatsworth yesterday and Monday were us too; practising but also positioning down to Coningsby smile

You aren't wrong about the weather last week - went down the Dams on Thursday in our freshly-painted tailart jet and the met was awful!

Our pair should be two minutes after the Lanc if I remember correctly - there has to be a bit of space in there because of the speed differentials involved smile

Wings back to 67? biggrin

Its three runs for both the Tornados and the Lanc isn't it?

Is the route :

Derwent > turn left at Ladybower, over Bamford, Hathersage then turn right to Chatsworth?

Follow the river (roughly) all the way down to Derby I would think.

The flypast is also due to undertake a flypast over the Eyebrook Reservoir near Corby at approx 1.45 that afternoon. The Eyebrook was alo used as a practice location for the raid hence the inclusion. No public access to the reservoir itself but good viewing on the surrounding roads.
Just a reminder for anyone this way.

Excellent - where will you be? We're heading for Pike Low, the hillside adjacent to the East tower.

A bit of advice needed chaps , I am attempting to get in CutThroat parking early on. Not knowing the area that well , which route would you take to get to the east side , just follow the 57 or go cross country ?

We'll be doing a similar thing. I'd definitely walk A-57, straight through the traffic lights and turn right just before the bridge (along the track to the Derwant dam wall). Cross country is deceptive - you kind of end up on the wrong ridge (Derwent Edge), and it's a treck to get back down again. I think it will be way quicker to keep low and flat.

Thanks for the advice, you wouldn't think I am only an hour and twenty mins away smile Hardly ever go that neck of the woods .
