What I would say though is if it's not at an airshow near you make the effort to go see it. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity I would have thought so for a few hours in a car you should be in reach of a show.
Is how I feel too, I've booked a seat on top of the Bandstand at Eastbourne fo rthe Thursday. Even if I go, watch the Lancs and visit their trade stands then come home, it's worth the trip and I'll have seen them at least once

Said exactly that to the wife last night. Going to try for Sywell in mid August smile

Not read all the thread, but is it possible they could both land at East Kirby to join Just Jane? That would be a good time to have a taxi ride...

I don't remember if there's a runway there or not.

It's not on the current event list, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

They do taxi runs in Just Jane, but looking at East Kirby on Google Maps not much of a runway. A flypast would be the better option

Will it be based at a specific airport/airbase when it visits the UK or will it tour and stay at the airshows. I'm just wondering because I watched the BBMF take off from Bournemouth airport during the airshow there and it would be incredible to see two Lancasters take off in quick succession.

Very short runway - so would be a overhead flyby of the two Lancs with JJ on the ground with engines running as the ideal scenario - if that could be arranged.

BBMF Lanc overflying a ground running JJ has been done before, so might happen with a 2 x Lanc overfly - fingers crossed it could happen.

(part of the planning to get JJ flying again also includes the extension of the current runway setup to allow it to take-off and land when she's declared airworthy)

The Lancaster pre stages at airports like Bournemouth so you should see both.

The red arrows are normally based at the Bournemouth for the weekend as well, so plenty to see. They are doing all 4 days at Bournemouth and a few other displays over the weekend.

The BBMF is there all 4 days (Lanc/hur/spit/Dakota) and with the Canadian Lancaster on the sat and sun

Lancs x 2 over the dams please.
I have heard this is going to happen but is being kept quiet because of traffic problems in the area. Don't know a date but I'm guessing ther may be a gap in the itinerary???

I hope so, and have just put a day aside for it.

Such a beautiful bit of history, have seen one close up, but would never be brave enough to have a ride in one (not that I would ever get the chance)

agree with above, it's at least an hour's drive down to Bournemouth for me but worth it every year.
The sight of one Lancaster coming in from over the sea gives you goosebumps, it seems so slow and majestic compared with the newer planes and the noise it makes..
Have been on the beach and up on the cliffs and an amazing site every time. cannot wait to see the both of them and flanked with the rest of BBMF
Never been to the Bournemouth show but plan to this year. Can you state whether the beach or the cliffs offer the best view.
Cheers

I prefer it up on the cliffs, it seems like the planes are not much higher than you, although it is slightly surreal playing on the beach with the kids and having displays etc going on above your head.
I always stick to the Boscombe end, it is much quieter as most people head into Bournemouth and the pier

As I'm always working at Bournemouth I'm based by the pier and yes the crowds can be a nightmare, you still get a good view though. All the hotels along the cliffs offer food, drinks and some offer further entertainment so even if you choose to avoid the masses you can still get fed and watered.

There is also the option to go out to one of the RFA ships from bournemouth pier and a lot of evening entertainment within the winter gardens depending on the day you go.

They amazing to fly in..I posted my old video of my flight earlier in the thread. Unbeleivably noisy and the skin feels like tinfoil, but the view is stunning. Standing up in the cockpit you have a view of all four engines around you as you pivot. Beautiful thing.

Would love to see this. Any ideas if it will be flying near Yorkshire?

Take a look at the itinerary list on the Canadian Lancaster website for more info on where it will be displaying.

However within 2/3hours of driving at most you should be a able to get somewhere with the pair displaying.
