Thanks for the kind words, really am looking forward to it, but at the same time I realise what an undertaking it is to get her over to the UK.

I should be at the CWHM by this time tomorrow if all goes to plan.

Yes plan on taking as many photos/videos as possible, will keep twitter updated as much as I can!!
I am sure it will be a truly memorable experience smile

Can you say any more about the escort Matt, or is it hush hush?

Regards the arrival at Conningsby I've heard that most roads around the airfield will be CLOSED to cars!!!! so myself and several friends are taking bike racks and parking up outside Conningsby and cycling in, the RAF are expecting a LOT of people at the airbase so plan wisely as it will be packed!

I don't do twitter so how can I follow Maff's trip?

Also does anyone know what will be escorting the Canadian Lancaster into Conningsby?

I overheard that the escort will be two euro fighters, and either a spitfire and hurricane or the bumf Lancaster. And then as we land the red arrows will do a fly past.

Probably shouldn't repeat this as it was mentioned at RIAT a couple of weeks ago - I was working there & was chatting to some pilots as you do.

However....

It is being said that both Lancs will be flying low over Derwent Water dam a couple of times after which they will hook up with 558, both being Avro products, for some special & unique fly-bys.

I don't know when this is going to happen, if at all, however if it does happen it will make for a stunning sight.

Just hope that I can to see the two Lancs together at some time - I'm due to have a brain tumour removed on 11 August so the first two weeks that the Canadian Lancaster is over here will be a big no no for me.

Looking forward to updates from Maff.
