Slightly O/T - Just Jane on BBC News this morning at 06-50.

Something about new rules for flights in restored aircraft?

ETA - on again at 07-50 and they're going to fire her up.

Gah! Recorded the HD channel and the sound was OK ish. It was good but not enough mics set up (??), reporter was on a handheld, if there any other mics they were not obvious.

Have to edit out the other rubbish and dump it to DVD.

Dunno. Fancied a day out to see two Lancaster's, I did not think I would see them until this was announced. I assume they will take loot on the day at the gate. Just wanted to know I will get in.

Going to be a very long day.

Edit Link to PDF for flying display

I have never known Duxford to be ticket only. But seeing how the Canadian Lanc has upped gates this summer, worth getting in advance?

Dunno, if you've got a ticket but can't park it's a it of a hassle.

True, I know it's a cost, but there is the "hospitality" option, car pass etc. - eta: Just looked, and Sundays 'Silver' is sold out

Is one reason I try to arrive as soon as the gates are open, get a walk about before the place fills, and get my spot and relax

Going to go to Allerton Castle on the 6th Sept.

Will the fly pasts be weather dependant?

Before Farnborough, probably 78 or 9 for a show for me. It was an eye opener. People were like Exocet's to the sitting places and deadly serious until spot was secured, then they were jovial. At least the ones I observed.

I was looking at the Vulcan and lady with the poor sod in tow dumped the foldaway chairs in front of me, no asking (I was by the fence), and directed husband not to move and guard the chairs. "DON'T move, you have previous on this and if I get back and you are not here......" she was not a slim gel, felt like telling the fella that now was his chance to escape.

All flypasts are weather dependant. They don't like rain and have a max crosswind limit of 15knots at their departure airfield so even if the weather is suitable at the venue they potentially won't arrive.

Does their host airfield have the traditional triangle of runways or just the one and a short auxiliary that is more typical these days of modern aircraft?

Does the flying display at Dunsfold fly alongparallel to the longer of the three runways, so to speak.

I'd have thought so. I have stood outside on the A281 to watch a few displays and they always seem to use 07/25 as the flight line.

I noticed on the Gransden Airshow website that a local farm shop had some tickets left so on Mon afternoon I drove over to Gamlingay from Milton Keynes and managed to get hold of two tickets. The person in front of me bought 10!, probably on ebay now.

My daughter-in-law's parents live in Gamlingay so maybe a BBQ in their garden may be a good place to be on Sunday! laugh
