A 5am alarm, and an hour and a half to get back out of the PAVE to get home - but well worth it. An amazing day.
First photo I've uploaded - glad I took my steps... wink Click for full size.

Not far off.

The Lancaster stems from a 1936 Air Ministry spec (P13/36). The Vulcan was from a 1946 Air Ministry spec (B35/46).
I believe the often quoted 11yrs apart refers to first flights. Something like 1941 vs 1952.

Fly by. Massive crop on this, so not very sharp - I could have done with a longer lens! Click for full size.

The noise as they all took off was something else. I managed to get two Vulcans and two Lancs in one shot. You might have to squint to see the second Vulcan mind you... wink

Well worth the effort of finding somewhere in the middle of nowhere to see them.

Having looked at the routing, I took the gamble they would fly directly from Metheringham Airfield to RAF Coningsby and, fortunately, I was right! I parked up in the middle of the fens, just south east of Metheringham. In contrast to Lincoln and the other flypast 'hotspots, I didn't see another soul for the hour I was there except for a farmer cutting hedges... biggrin

Not my best pictures but at least the sun came out!

Love these 2, may I steal for FB please? (I'll give you credit!)

Got some angle of attack on that Vulcan to slow it down to Lancaster speeds. Wonder what speed a Vulcan stalls?

Nothing of intrest to add, but would just like to thank the people who are taking the time to post pictures, I am in the north east and unable to go down south due to commitments and really appreciate the pictures.thumbup

Deltas don't stall as such they just mush downwards. And if designed properly don't drop a wing tip. However you can get the wrong side of the power/drag envelope where the AoA is so great you don't have enough power to get enough airspeed/airflow over the controls to get the nose back down.
