Canadian Lancaster to visit the UK

Glad she is on the ground and all are safe, am gutted for the crew and the people wanting to see her this weekend, but she is a delicate old girl and needs constant looking after. Hope she is well soon.
on a selfish note, I want her fit for Tuesday, but if not I know the teams will have tried hard to get her airworthy

From an article on The Northern Echo website:-
Captain Don Schofield, chief pilot, who flew the Lancaster both yesterday and today, said: "During a brief flight this morning, with museum members on board, the aircraft suffered an internal oil leak on the starboard outer engine.
"The aircraft landed perfectly safely.
"The exact origin of the oil leak, and its significance, is as yet unknown and is being investigated by our engineers.
"There was never any hazard to anyone's safety, but the oil spilled in to the exhaust system, and that's what caused the big cloud of white smoke.
"Beyond that, nothing is known or defined at this time."

'Just looking at the latest, it looks like engine 3 or 4 being a problem but I will look to confirm. Instead of trying to fix the engine at DTV they are going to replace the Engine. This is possible with an engine from East Kirkby who has Lancaster "Just Jane" in ground run condition. I believe the Engine is or soon will be on its way DTV so it can be swapped over, checked and back airworthy. I would guess they will then bring the faulty engine back to the BBMF who will be better set up to repair the Engine but this is just my speculation. At the moment we are still looking at a scrubbed weekend for Vera but you never know so keep a watch on this page for updates. At the moment all this info is unofficial but I wanted to pass it on first as it could take me some time to trace the story back to source or find official confirmation'
