There is, but Just Jane does powered passenger taxy runs, this was billed as the last 3 lancaster moving together. JJ taxying while City of Lincoln and Vera did flypasts

We found a nice spot to watch the Milton Keynes flypast yesterday. Had a backdrop of a railway viaduct and river for the planned picture.

We waited patiently then I heard a strange engine noise from high up 'The plane's coming' I said...it was a train!

We didn't see Thumper, she did a curved flypast according to video footage, so I don't know where she went.

Had a nice walk instead.

Do we know for sure both airworthy Lancasters will fly together again this season?

All is on sxhedule for vera to have a flight test weds before flying back to CGY, at which point it will be certified fit for display and then back on display, i beleive they are in ireland and scotland before the 3 lancs event on sunday.

Thank you kindly sir. I have really got lost in this thread, all I know is I love to see and hear these fly, and would love to see them over the town of my birth (Morecambe) and Southport before the return to Canada.

Some pictures I took from the end of the runway at tees-side, as has been said they were really throwing Vera around and the one with the blue sky was the day later, I heard the sound of Merlin engines and ran out with my camera to snap it flying over my house.

This is the schedule for when she's back in the air:-

Think it's really bad form for the BBMF not to turn out to support Just Jane's event today, it will loose them quite a bit of goodwill.

BBMF cancelled because if they attended today, without VERA, any reaaranged date would then have to be charged on top of what the original price was for the 2 planned events.

Its also down to flying hours for the planes.

Th BBMF aircraft are run on a tight schedule regarding flying hours and a set number of landings per aircraft per year. The last thing they want to do is display today and then not have enough landings/hours for the rescheduled date.

Wouldn't it be just one extra landing and an extra couple of hours? Couldn't they have made one exception?

Re. goodwill: I must admit when I did an online search for BBMF info recently, I stumbled accross some airshow forum or other and was quite surprised to see the amount of negativity towards the BBMF's displays i.e. that they are in fact very dull.

Your be surprised how tight it is. They need to have an allowance saved for any airtests and emergencies. As to BBMF's displays. They are not a display team they are a memorial flight. The fact that when they appeared at bournemouth Saturday to the largest round of applause Ive heard says it all.

The BBMF only have 24 hours & 5 minutes flying time remaining for the 2014 season and the have quite a few appearances to fulfill hence their decision to back out of the Just Jane fly-past.

By cancelling today they hope to be able to make the revised date once it has been finalised.

Regarding VERA & the replacement engine - i assume that the new engine has come out of the spares held by the BBMF.

Is it a straight swap with the BBMF going to keep the engine out of VERA when it has been repaired or will it be flown back to Canada to go back into VERA with the engine that she ''borrowed' being returned to the BBMF?

I thought that the two Lancaster's were built to different specifications so if that is the case was the engine swap straightforward or has VERA had to be modified in some way?

I thought it came from the airworthy supply they have been putting together at East Kirkby to get Just Jane into the air.

Don't really understand this to be honest, the aircraft are old and expensive to maintain, by treating them gently it means they stay in the air more.
I think some people expect them to do aerobatics or something.

Personally I am just happy to see them in the air.

I thought both Lancasters appeared at Bournemouth, not just the BBMF?

Nope, that appears to have been false info. East Kirby did offer one, but. the one being fitted is a BBMF one. CWH are being charged on a 'power by hour' basis according to BBMF ...... whatever that means? but I'm guessing it's something like (cost of overhaul/tbo * hours flown in Vera) using a simplistic formula.
CWH are hoping to get their engine repaired here in time for re-fitting for the flight back to Canada.

Not a straight swap either, Retro Air & Track (who are contracted by MoD to do BBMF engine overhauls) have been involved to do some approved changes to the engine to work in Vera.
