They aren't really a "barn find" in that their existence and location has always been known. Connie Edwards bought the Buchons in 1967 at the time the film Battle of Britain was being made and he and his team of flyers were roped into the film shoot.
Since 1969 some of the Buchons have been kept flying and some have been sold on at various stages. The remainder were kept stored.

They look odd with the merlins.
The 109 family has had a wide variety of engines - so the front end of the aircraft has changed noticeably over the various versions. From memory the engines used were - Rolls Royce Kestrel (prototype)
Junkers Jumo 210 (A to D versions)
Daimler Benz 600/601/605 (E to K versions)
Junkers Jumo 211 (Avia 199 and variants)
Hispano Suiza (early Buchons)
Rolls Royce Merlins (later Buchons)
