Just wondering if anyone here is a regular to the Yeovilton Air Day? Heading there with my old man for the first time so wondered what peoples thoughts were? Particularly looking forward to seeing Vulcan and Canberra which he flew back in his day, but also hoping to get into the museum and see the Gannet which he flew from Ark Royal. Any idea if the museum is free on the air show day to ticket holders, or is it separately ticketed?

Been a couple of times, my favourite airshow with a good mix of old and new on display. They pull quite a few of the exhibits out of the museum to display them in the sun, and tbh I don't think there would be enough time to do the show and the museum properly on the same day. Always a good show by the RNHF, they always seem to be a bit more enthusiastic with their aircraft than the BBMF especially the Sea Fury. I think it really benefits from being a one day sghow, all the flying displays are condensed down so there's always something interesting to see.

The best show I went to they had the Vulcan, Sea Vixen, tons of lynxes, polish MIG29, Rafale, Typhoon, P40, the list goes on. The classic car display is normally pretty good too. The big set=piece role demo from the marines at the end is always great fun with loads of explosions and smoke everywhere biggrin

Remember where you parked though, last year spent about an hour wandering around trying to find where my dad had left his car hehe

Booked for the first time ... decided to try a different airshow as RIAT and F'bro seem to focus on new stuff. Looking forward to seeing the Sea Vixen do her stuff

Kemble was my favourite airshow by some margin, in my opinion Yeovilton comes closest to that in terms of atmosphere, variety, friendleness, and as above, it just being one day really helps.

Thinking of going to Yeovilton this Saturday as SWMBO'd is away - any tips or must do's (apart from the usual - get there early!)?

TIA

I'll be there in the vehicle exhibition. Definitely the best way to do it: Cheaper tickets, get in before the crowds and have a boot full of supplies! biggrin

I hope it's not as hot as last year!

I agree, a great day out. Sure it's busy but if it wasn't, there wouldn't be a show! Think doing the museum as well might be pushing it.

A folding chair or two might be a good call!
