In private aviation there is a huge culture of back scratching, maybe not so much in the TAG/ NJ corporate taxi world, but in genuine private aviation orders are placed where the "lubrication" is sweetest all day every day.

At large corporate levels it's strict to the point that decent entertaining simply doesn't even start.

As I mentioned earlier, it's a serious offence now and consequently take very, very seriously. Matt (my mate at BAE) flies around the world as much to do with the fact they won't entertain a supplier who breaks the rules, let alone one of their own.

You don't just ring airbus or Boeing and say I want to buy some planes.
Slightly off topic. Lets just say I win a huge Euro millions lottery that's been rolling over for months.
Why couldn't I ring Airbus and say I want a 737? Does it have to go through a broker? (who by the sounds of it has all the fun as the buyer).

Because Airbus doesn't manufacture 737s?

There was a report that when Stelios first mentioned to a reporter that he was thinking of starting an airline, Boeing rang him.
