Copied from ribnet. Beggars belief.
"Ryde Inshore Rescue lifeboats have been vandalized. RR1 has been stabbed approx 14 times and RR2 stabbed approx 8 times. The incident occurred during the hours of 5pm last night Sunday 20th July 2014 to 6pm Monday 21st July 2014. Sadly, this means that both boats are rendered unusable and Ryde Inshore Rescue will be unable to attend any emergency call outs until further notice. If anyone has any information please ring 01983 564564, leave a message on our facebook page Ryde Inshore Rescue or telephone the police.

Last year we saved 97 people and July & August are our busiest times of year. All crew and members are volunteers, on call 365 days of the year. PLEASE PLEASE if you are down the beach with your children, be watchful as we are not able to assist.

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN TO SPREAD THE WORD AROUND"

With one exception
Those pieces of excrement that did it. I would even hold them underwater,

I would imagine that quite a few people would join you in the queue.

What kind of bellend does that to a Lifeboat??

It beggars belief. Absolute tossers.

Killing the miscreants is hardly the answer, but if anyone in distress should drown due to their actions, they should certainly be done for manslaughter.

I didn't realize that the Ryde boats were operated independently of the RNLI until reading it on another forum.

I'm not affiliated with them but if anybody wishes to help get the boats back on the water then they have a just giving page;

I know nothing about boats, so forgive me if I'm being dumb; but could they use an off-the-shelf RIB till theirs are repaired?
If so, surely somebody could lend them a couple of boats. I know there are numerous RIBs belonging to the RN sitting on trailers doing nothing on the other side of the Solent.

Pretty specialised bits of kit. Those Navy ones would be like taking an old water tanker to a fire rather than a proper Fire Engine. Many ££££££ to build one.

Not sure who does the inshore RIB tubes, hope they have some on the shelf for the repair.

I`m originally from the IOW, having just spent the last week over there, I can confirm that an inshore boat is on standby at Appley slip clap There is a report of the damage in the local paper, so hopefully the fools that caused the damage will get caught. The guys that operate these craft are our unsung heroes and deserve the greatest respect, I fully agree with the sentiments posted on this thread and hope that the full service can be restored.
