Did any one else get caught up in the traffic coming out of Clacton? i believe it was made worse by the VOSA check point
No, because I was still at the beer festival when you posted this ;0)ETA: I'll put a few pics up once I've uploaded them.
Ian, you mut have been right near us, our Sea King shots look the same. We were on the sticky out concrete thing opp the hospital car park exit. If you saw a bunch including a pram & a red mobility trike thing then that was us.

i saw the scamera van but didnt see the hand held so maybe he had gone or i wasnt on the ball,im sure the VOSA checkpoint must have made things worse on the day and they must have known it would but thats typical i guess.
To be honest i think we must have all been standing within a hundred yards of each other as the pictures my wife took look like they were from a very similar position especially the ones of the SeaKing
Bearing in mind I had a toddler & buggy with me last year the train up wasn't too bad.
However on the way back a train broke down and the station got very full very quickly, as did the train when it eventually left.
I heard the roads were just as bad though.
I think you've either got to get there early & stay late, or just from & bear it.

Is taking a car a silly idea (after looking at attendence figures and lack of car parks)?
Everything in town opens it car parks & charges £5 or so a day, that's my experience anyway.I'll be there on thursday for the Vulcan, it's my annual visit to parents so makes sense to do it on a day with something interesting
A nice way of doing it, is to go by boat, moor just outside the marker buoys, get out the deck chairs
beer and nibbles, and have a first class view of everything, as the aircraft track just on the shore side of the markers. And you don't have to worry about parking (not that this is a problem, because Clacton deals with this quite well, including their park and ride scheme from the nearby shopping village) or getting stuck in traffic jams.
