Two iconic shapes and sounds together, I suspect it will inspire a number of model dioramas for years to come!

Great shot.

I know nothing about planes, but is it only me that finds it interesting that these different technologies can fly at the same speed as each other? (Might sound doltish, but you'd imagine the Vulcan would need to go faster to stay up? biggrin)

Im certainly no expert but I imagine the Vulcan will be flying as slow as possible and the Lancs will be going as fast as their little propellers will carry them!
Its slowest possible speed would be faster than the Lancs slowest

Great shot BTW

I'll probably get a slap on the wrist for posting in two threads but these probably belong here really!

Taken from the middle of the deserted (and very windy!) Lincolnshire Fens and one of the few places it seems where the sun put in an appearance!! biggrin

'Vera' seemed to be dropping back a bit by the time they got to Metheringham and wasn't really catching up as they headed for Coningsby (hence the two pictures above with 'Thumper' and '558 in one, and 'Vera' in the other). I suspect the wind wasn't helping her much as it seemed to increase quite dramatically at ground level over the Fens between them leaving Waddington and getting to me!

I think you mean Photo(shop) - the Vulcan's been superimposed, the formation simply wasn't that tight!

found this -

"Last year we never really went above 180kt on any part of the display - meaning that we were flying at the same speed as a Lancaster, but making more noise."

I suppose someone had to be in the right place to get a good pic of all three. Do you know if/where footage from the drone or hawk will turn up? Or the pics from the air ambulance for that matter....

It would have been returning from Clacton airshow when you saw it.
