So where do we sit on boeings plastic pig a couple of years on then?

Always felt a little dubious myself and one best avoided while they find its flaws but the mrs mentioned the other day royal brunai were offering cheap deals on lon-aus which we'll be doing at christmas.
Brilliant they are. Flown on them 7 or 8 times ish.

Last year flew London- Ho Chi Minh city non stop on a 787 then hour wait and HCM to Bangkok on a ropey old 737 the difference is significant.

Rather than any of the original issues that were muted, I'd be more concerned about : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/08/25/rol...

ANA have grounded their entire fleet of Rolls powered 787s, an airline doesn't do that for fun. It must be costing Rolls a small fortune.

The 787 needs to prove its safety in service for a few more years before I will be prepared to fly on one.

In particular, there are still question marks over the safety of the Lithium ion battery systems, which were responsible for the grounding of the entire fleet last year. Boeing's solution to the problem of battery fires was to install a containment system, not to remove the root cause of the problem.
Copied from the first page of this thread.

The 787 has now proved its safety and reliability in service. Despite its many early issues, It's a good aircraft, and I'm happy to fly in it.

My wife is booked with BA LHR-AUS in November, a rogue flown by the 787. I'm super jealous! I'd love to have a flight in one. biggrin

Is the comment earlier in this thread true that the crew dim the windows in flight so that you can't see out? Surely that can't be the case?!

Sounds similar but possibly less serious than the issue GE had with the 787 in the US:

Lucky enough to have flown back from Menorca on Thomsons 787 a few weeks back. I thought it was brilliant, the windows are terrific!
