As the thread title really how does one go about organising an airshow?

Presumably you need to get some form of air authprity clearance? Do you also need to have air traffic control on the day?

What about planes I believe the BBMF and Red Arrows come free if you meet their requirements. But what about eveyone else? How much do they charge? When do you pay them? Just considering the logistics, not actually going to do it!

I wonder how you meet their requirements?

I'd imagine most of the 'air' is the same above a couple hundred meters... make sure you stay away from any airports, maybe?

Think I'll get them in for my birthday.

First off you would need a venue, then you would need to meet the requirements within this document from the CAA http://www.caa.co.uk/cap403 once you have met them requirements you would want to fill in this form if you require RAF displays (you have 10 days left for next year) http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/rafcms/mediafiles/381CD... (the Reds and BBMF are only free if you have a flypast and it fits between their schedule otherwise a BBMF display is £1,500 upwards)

Every aircraft is different the boultbee spitfire is over £2,000 for a display.

You could always just hire in these guys: http://www.tsaconsulting.co.uk/air-display-managem...

Edited to add:

IIRC the vulcan is about £10,000 so would never bother with that. Much better getting 5 solo displays in to make a full day of flying. If you really want I can also list all the displays that make crowds stop that I would have in an airshow.

I'm not too clued up on the Red's, they're the enemy. However the last time I heard it was just short of £10,000

I've come back to provide airshow advice as I found comedy was not a strong point.

Can you explain how the Red Arrows are the enemy?

Anyway thanks for the information. Not planning on staging an airshow I was just wondering what one has to do, so now some reading to do!

Just a bit of rivalry between BBMF and the Reds.

Quite a lot of reading just for interest. Once you've finished reading the CAP any further questions feel free to ask.
