Yep B1b Lancer. My favourite bomber ever, I miss sitting at the end of the runway at Nellis AFB watching them take off directly over me with full afterburner going.

Thanks.

I have only ever seen one once, at Waddington air show. I'll never forget the low level pass, screaming over the runway with the engines glowing.

A fabulous looking machine.

Fabulous looking machine, I had assumed they didn't fly anymore. It would seem I'm wrong.

The USAF doesn't have that many bombers in their inventory anymore. They only ever had about 100 B1s but that number is down to around 60 now.

I guess bombers are going out of fashion, being replaced by cruise missiles and other smart weaponry.

I reckon there will be a need for such aircraft for a while yet. The USAF have just started an updgrade programme to see these aircraft through to 2030.
