I'm guessing it will never happen but the Phantom cloud9

Without doubt one of my favourite aircraft of all time.

Pretty mucky buggers to work on so I was told some time ago!

The Canadian Heritage Museum was originally a private ventue but is now sponsored by the Canadian government; the visit to UK was therfore 'official'. Furthermore the Lancaster crew are a mixture of serving and ex Canadian Air Force. The PDA (Public Display Authorisation) was subject to them operating to RAF rules after having gained approval by the RAF supervisory chain.

The BBMF are not in the business of "displays", they are in the business of preserving the RAF's WW2 Heritage and they are subject to extremely strict rules of flying authorisation and flying supervision. The average warbird operation would never meet these requirements.
Thanks, I didn't realise the Canadian government funded them these days.

How did they get around flying with the Vulcan?
There was no PDA to work with the Vulcan, hence they were cleared merely to do loose formation fly throughs.

I asked this whilst on a recent tour at coningsby, they would love to add a mossie and typhoon/tempest to the flight if funds and airworthy examples allowed.

Maybe they should consider buying one of the two airworthy Mosquitoes. The Mossie was a key RAF aircraft in WW2 and would be ideal for BBMF operations.

They don't, not according to the CWH website.

As quoted on their website:-
We are an independent Museum and are not affiliated with any other organization or government program. As a result we do not acquire much funding from the Canadian Government, but primarily rely on cash and in kind sponsorships and donations from the public.

The costs of bringing the Lanc over were underwritten by a UK businessman.

Mosquito is still my favourite aircraft from that era.

Weird to see this subject of a Mossie back in UK skies twice in one week - once on here and once on the BBMF facebook page (albeit wishful thinking ......)

It was an aweful tragedy that the BAe Mossie was lost.

Somewhere I have photo's of me in formation with it.

Well, The Peoples' Mosquito charity is progressing. They have an uphill struggle but I've been following them for a while and it does appear to be gathering momentum. They have the identity of RL249 to work with and Aerowood Ltd who built the airframe for KA114 are presently building the wings.

One of my coolest aviation memories.
Was working a trade stand at FIA 2000. Because I lived locally, I went to the airfield a few days before the show started to get my security badge.
Was waiting in the queue, and it was mentioned that the Eurofighter (this was before the Typhoon name) was due in, was going to be Luftwaffe examples.
Scouring the skies, eventually saw something on the horizon pumping out huge amounts of smoke (think B52), thought that cannot be it.
Then we saw the Eurofighter next to him, he escorted him down to about 100 feet, then hit the burners and left.
Magical. Only time I ever saw an F4.

The problem is that there is really only one Mossie available - the Jerry Yagen example.

TV959 has been shipped to New Zealand too for restoration. There are airframes around.

There are a number of projects in existence - but only two flyable at the moment.

At least 3 active projects. Bad news for Jerry Yagen if he wants his rumoured $7million back on rarity grounds, but good for everyone else.

In fact, it looks like he has decided to keep it for the moment.

Not totally impossible. There are a few still in service and recent rumours that one might come to the UK for test work. Very very doubtful though.

Mind you, there is a private one flying in the US.
