I think a large proportion of my fantasy airshow are still operational aircraft, or at least, still flying on the airshow circuit. They are just aircraft that I would really like to see flying.

Here's some I can think of

Wright flyer
Sopwith Camel
Fokker Triplane, in red of course.
Zeppelin
R101
Mosquito
A formation of Spitfires
Stuka
Me 262
B29
B36
B47 with rocket assisted take off
Comet
VC10
Concorde
B52 with dirty smoky engines
Vampire
Meteor
Harrier
Lightning
Vulcan and Victor, flying together.
B1
B2
F117
F14
F22
F35

I could list many more. This airshow will have to be a week long. Best get a burger van and a toilet block.

So many great aeroplanes no longer exist either airworthy or at all.

It would be great to see some of the early British WW2 bombers such as the Stirling, Whitley and Hampden.
How about a Beaufighter or a Beaufort?
Or a Defiant, Roc or Skua?

It would also be great to see on of the SR-71 family in the air again (SR-71, A-11, YF-12,M21)
How far is the Beaufighter at Duxford from realistically being airworthy?
Sadly, probably never likely to see flight I would think, well not in UK skies. The lack of any available flight capable engines/props would seem to be the single drawback to it ever seeing flight. TFC have spent almost a quarter of a century scouring the planet for suitable engines/props without any success. It was up for sale a few years ago, and I thought it had been bought by an Aussie based group...maybe the deal fell through given it's still here?

Single formations of

Vulcan, Victor, Valiant
Vigilante, Valkerie, Hustler
Kfir, Mirage 4, Mirage 2000
Starfighter, Starfighter , Starfighter
SR71, U2, B1
Concorde, TU144, TSR2
Lightning, Buccaneer, Phantom
Javelin, Hunter, Sea Vixen
Lancaster, B17, He111

And the list goes on........
What he said. Prototypes would be nice too, Fairey FD2 please, and Bristol 188. If we're allowed paper/vapourware aeroplanes, then the Saro SR177, Hawker P1121, Avro 730 and the utterly bonkers Vickers type 559.

ETA De Havilland Albatross.

I just thought of another one, the Saab Viggen, not sure if any are still airworthy, if not, that's another fantasy display sorted.
This airshow would be something to behold, especially if some of the pilots I used to see at Farnborough were at the controls as well, the displays used to be spectacular to say the least!
As to venue, I would vote for Biggin Hill. It holds a lot of great memories for me, going there for the Air Tattoo, with planes dropping down into the valley at the End of the runway, then suddenly reappearing. I was also there when the Intruder (I think) crashed into the same valley on take off, carrying passengers as well, sad day.
Me too.....I was talking to the pilot and the civilian passengers just before it happened.....I was about 16 still haunts me today. Beautiful aircraft that spectacularly dived down into the dip and never came back up. All we saw was the plume of black smoke.

Being a keen but passive enthusiast of the early passenger jet age, and the 'evolution' thereof, to what we have today, I'd love to see a chronology from the 50s jet airliners to the 787. Though, no need to go through all the variants of the same type, rather aircraft that seemed to bring a new or different design to the table.

Perhaps:
DeHavilland Comet
DC8,
Convair 880
B707
Trident
VC10
L1011 Tristar
B747-100
Concorde
B757
B787

I was gutted when the ME262 (albeit a recreation) was cancelled from Farnborough this year.

Was thinking about this the other after chatting to a friend of mine about a similar concept. As something to pass the time I came up with my own list...

F14 Tomcat
Harrier
Vulcan
B17
B29
B52
B2
F117
SR71
B2 Spirit
Chengdu J-20
Concorde
Nimrod
747

For me it would be mianly stuff I havent seen in person.

Mainly Russian stuff like a Tu22 of any kind, an Su15, always wanted to see a Mig25 or 31.

But a Tu160 would be amazing too.

Older stuff, love to see a Black Widow night fighter, not sure if I ever saw a Liberator, maybe.

A Valkyrie lol or a B58 hustler! Both would be awesome.

And for nostalgia sake a Whittle.

But obviously the best for last, a proper TSR-2.

Agreed that some noisy Russian metal would definitely draw a crowd.
A Tu 95 would also be epic from the noise perspective.

Messerschmitt Me 163

The only ever rocket-powered plane to fly......although, not sure I'd want to be too close, especially when fuelling!

What about the Bell X series? Though they were air launched.

True, though a touch difficult to see at their normal operating altitude smile

I probably should have been a bit more accurate - only ever rocket-powered war plane (or commercial plane) to see service...

How about a fire bombing role demo. By a Martin Mars?

Maybe a pylon race featuring pre war Schneider trophy floatplanes?

Dornier Do335

Hawker typhoon. Would love to hear a Napier sabre!

A Luftwaffe mistel (a fighter such as a bf109 on top of an old bomber converted to remote control). Takeoff, Separation and landing demo. Probably best use one of the training ones not one with a massive bomb inside.

I was looking forward to a replica ME262 at Farnborough a few years back, but it pulled out before the show.

Also really want to get out to the States at some point and see a B29!

Seen that! Just happened to be at Sproat Lake (for another reason) when a big shadow flickered over the treetops and minutes later it appeared and did a test drop biggrin
