Not that one, I think they cut that up in to sections no ? I seem to recall another car carrier that listing right over as this one is with a load of Mazda cars on board and was successfully righted again, but although mostly undamaged, Mazda still wrote off all the cars.
Ah, ok.. my mistake. I went onboard a grounded vessel off the northern coast of Cyprus 30 years or so ago, it had been stuck for nearly 10 years. The (open) hold of the relatively small ship was full of Mazdas and Colts. The effect of the corrosion was amazing, the Japanese must have merely opened a can of Dynax S50 near the production line an inch or so before quickly closing it.
The boat I'm thinking of was posted here on PH , possibly in relation to the MV Tricolor story. I think the story was of some ace salvage crew that get flown in to try and save the ship for a percentage. I recall a story of a heavily listing car transporter full of Mazda cars ( mk3 MX5's i think ) which this crew managed to save, only for Mazda to scrap the lot.
I'm sure someone will link the story, despite me probably having it wrong a bit in every way.

would there not be a local pilot on board at that point? If so maybee mechanical failure is to blame?
I've heard that a pilot was onboard, all just hearsay at the moment.

Good news is that the last report if man overboard is probably incorrect. Lifeboats appear to be leaving the scene, just the tugs and Pathfinder remaining.

Good job by the Coastguard and RNLI tonight, well done folks.

Are you thinking of the Cougar Ace? She was heading to Vancouver from Japan and listed but didn't sink. I was in B.C then and there was lots of speculation as to the whys of the listing.

All accounted for. Claim of malfunction so looks like rounded the mark and carried on rounding.

At least it didn't happen at low tide over a weekend in the summer!

Remarkable how long it took for this to appear on the main news sites after it first cropped up on PH. Must have been at least two hours.

Now everyone is safe, real curious to find out what make of car is in the hold.

It always surprises me how little of these ships is actually below the water line.

It must have been a malfunction. I mean how can you not miss Bramble bank! As has already been mentioned, there would have been a pilot on board.
Hope there's not too much pollution frown

Southampton is used as a hub for many UK manufacturers, so it could be a hold full of Land Rovers/Range Rovers, Jaguars, Fords, MINIs, Hondas or mix of those and more. Having said that, I took a train journey which went past the port just before Christmas and the place was overflowing with Discoveries and Range Rovers of all shapes.

I wonder how this has happened, I mean it's not like the bank isn't well known and plotted.

Hope all are rescued safely.

Normally the Pilots tend to get onboard before entering/leaving the Solent so I think there would have been one onboard at this point in their journey.

It was probably sabotaged by the Discovery Channel so they can make a documentary called 'Salvaging the Hoegh Osaka' about it.

Well as others have said before. That is not floating any time soon. It's an hour from high tide and she is staying put.
