I didn't understand this comment however watching Sky News & they said that cricket matches are played on the Bank in the summer when the tide is low!!

Not being local I didn't know this. Any photos as I would love to see that happening.

Spoiler: The cargo is a total loss, Range Rovers or not. frown
There will be a load of cheap, new secondhand parts on the market

Thank you for that.

Only in England would you find seemingly sensible adults playing cricket. On a sand bank. In the middle of one of the worlds busiest shipping lanes.

Great stuff.

Is the red thing on the spit a canoe or is it a double paddle board?

It was probably sabotaged by the Discovery Channel so they can make a documentary called 'Salvaging the Hoegh Osaka' about it.
I always wondered why there wasn't a documentary on the Tricolor salvage from the English channel (the one full of brand-new cars, the wreck had to be cut into sections on site and taken away) so I emailed the salvage company, they replied saying the owners wouldn't allow a documentary to be filmed as the various car manufacturers didn't want their cars to be seen wrecked/flattened/full of water.

Now everyone is safe, real curious to find out what make of car is in the hold.
Southampton is used as a hub for many UK manufacturers, so it could be a hold full of Land Rovers/Range Rovers, Jaguars, Fords, MINIs, Hondas or mix of those and more. Having said that, I took a train journey which went past the port just before Christmas and the place was overflowing with Discoveries and Range Rovers of all shapes.
Oddly, unless maybe there's an insurance limit, it's apparently only half full. But they normally pack the vehicles in so they're virtually touching.

Suggestion that the list was so bad the pilot grounded her to avoid a capsize.

Just seen it suggested on another forum that the ship was ultimately going to Saudi and was only half full as it was picking up more cars in Germany.

If that's correct then seems likely it will have been loaded with pretty high end cars ie lots of FFRRs, Bentleys etc.

Also there was no mechanical failure - it was a cargo / fuel / ballast balancing problem. The pilot put the ship aground to stop it capsizing.

No pics of the actual match I'm afraid, but they do the same on the Tay Estuary just west of the rail bridge...

If you're looking to sell your Rangie in Germany, you might want to hold onto it then. Scarcity is going to bouy prices for a bit I think.
