“A large vehicle carrier cargo ship has run aground in The Solent tonight (Saturday) and is listing to one side.
The Hoegh Osaka left Southampton at 20:21 this evening, however has run aground off East Cowes near to the West Bramble Buoy.
Lifeboats from Calshot and Yarmouth are in attendance alongside Coastguard Rescue 104 helicopter from Lee-on-Solent.”

Just on FR24 now and the coastguard chopper appears to be at 8ft!
How accurate will that be?

Looks like someone forgot to stop turning to port!

Or, maybe they realised they'd left a crewmember in Sou'ton and wanted to go back for them?

At least 12 casualties taken off. Reports of person in water earlier. Winchman still on board 15 mins ago, but ship is listing badly now. Second helicopter deployed as first is low on fuel.

"Heli now has 1 lifeboat crew aboard with 25m of rope. Going to tie the rope from uppermost side of ship to help get casualties get in a position to be rescued."

Still about 4 hours until low water, it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Interesting to see what happens. I figure the lashing holding the vehicles won't keep them at that sort of an angle for long.

My understanding is there are several more crew to be rescued as well. That's going to be a hell of a mess to clear up.

Let's hope all the crews get through this safely, brave guys and gals indeed.

Certainly. It's crazy to think that they can be where they are, and yet still in that much peril.
