Trying to work that pic out. Is that Nottingham's STBD Oly?

One f the problems I recall from hearing about Nottinham was water in electrics, getting into cables and causing problems a long way from the flooded area.

Is that your pic? I'd be very interested to see more of that terrific Damage Contol effort that saved her. Just a shame she ended up at Alliaga 10 years later.
Not my pic - just grabbed off the net

Does anyone know what helicopter the salvors are using? I'm assuming they're having to winch down to the ship.
I believe it's a company called Airlift from Norway. Their heavy lift stuff are usually AS332 Super Puma which adds up to the photos I've seen.

A super Pumas not really heavy lift is it? But makes sense. Can't say I've seen any images of them operating.

Anyway the latest update:

The Secretary of State’s Representative for Intervention and Salvage (SOSREP) visited the site of the Hoegh Osaka yesterday to view operations, which are progressing well. The weather has been favourable and is forecast to remain so, although the salvors are still working in challenging conditions.

De-watering operations finished at 11.30 today. Preparations are underway to begin the operation to pump the water that remains in the car decks into the empty fuel tanks on the ship.

The list is now at 47 degrees and we expect it to improve slowly over the coming hours in accordance with the plan.

Salvors plan to move the Hoegh Osaka to Southampton Port later this week, possibly late on Wednesday or early on Thursday

If it goes into Port, is it likely to go into a Dry dock of some sort?

A Press Association photo, shamelessly borrowed from the BBC News website:

Eventually yes. But Southampton does not have an operational dry dock at this time, King George VI dry dock has been out of commission for many years.

Portsmouth does have one.

It would if you dug a very big hole in Fratton, which would solve two problems.

Yes, fab bit of engineering, I'm lucky to have lived my life on the shore of Southampton water, I can hear the shipping go past, ship spotting is a major thing for me!nerd

I never knew it was there! I did a student job years ago at Cat UK right next door (Renault vehicle importers), which now also appears to be all locked up and being redeveloped.

Oddly enough, I was there today, right next door on the other side collecting a container from terminal 3. I'll have a closer look next time.
