A 2nd B-29 that's been under restoration to airworthy condition is getting close to flying.

Getting Fifi and Doc in the air together this summer is the plan.

I would love to see both of them in the air smile

I saw 'Fifi' fly many years ago and remember standing in the shade of the wing when they started up one of the engines near us, always had much more access to the aircraft at the U.S. airshows smile

Seeing FiFi fly was something I had always hoped for one day. Making the trip over the pond to Nellis AFB back in 1997 for the USAF 50th Anniversary Airshow was that chance.......alas, FiFi was a no-show as she had one of her, at the time, all too frequent engine failures en-route to Nevada from CAF base frown

Did get to see a SR-71 fly for the last time though, as well as the wonderful sight of one of the last F-106's flying, so wasn't all bad biggrin

Shares in Autosol went up on this news.
More seriously, that's a huge achievement and a magnificent looking aircraft.

The majority of that will most likely be building a hangar.

Unlike here, that probably won't be difficult.

A great post on FB from the CAF this week upon Doc's roll out, welcoming FIFI's sister and looking forward to a formation flight.

Always great when a warbird is returned to the air, I can't wait to see the completion of all the hard work with a successful test flight
