I didn't catch this one and I've missed the noise in the air over the last few weeks. I've now taken the particularly nerdy move of fitting an ADS-B receiver at home and I'm toying with hosting a Mode-S box now too as my house is in an excellent elevated spot.

Flight ADB1002 just flew over here low and loud. How do I find out what type of Antonov it was?

Antonov AN-124.

Check out FR24 and pop ADB1002 into the search bar. It's currently heading west over the Irish Sea.

My wife is upstairs and just called me to say an aeroplane is vibrating the windows. Sure enough there was a pronounced low frequency prop noise.

Having read this thread earlier I said casually 'oh, that must be an Antonov AN12, they make a lot of noise'.

Then I popped down to my study and looked on FlightRadar24 and sure enough it was that one, just going past Southampton and over our house. Slowly and noisily.

I wonder how effective the tail guns would have been in real life in the military version of this?

It flew right over but I didn't hear it somehow? Bring on summer evenings when I can actually see one.
