Is this the same one? Flew over me yesterday on finals to BHX
Might have been two of them
Second flyover about 3/4 hr later
What time was it? Saw mine at about 07.00 and checked what it was on Flight Radar. It was following what I assumed to be the normal E.Mids approach route (the same route the DHL freighters follow) but I'm only guessing.Might have been two of them

Sat with the tv on loud in a thick walled Victorian house and all I could hear a loud droning noise.
Appears to be an AN-26 operated by Genex at 20,000ft Spain to Birmingham. I think we established before they deliver car parts to the UK. But who for? And why not road move the parts?

BMW engine plant at Hams Hall? Parts delayed in production, and someone quite willing to foot the bill for flying said parts in, if it means being able to keep the line running?Sat with the tv on loud in a thick walled Victorian house and all I could hear a loud droning noise.

Correct. I work for a company specialising in this kind of charter. We fly time critical car parts all over Europe to prevent production lines stopping. The prices paid to fly the parts are considerably cheaper than a production line stopping for a few hours to wait for a truck to deliver them. There were 2 AN-26's I noticed out of Birmingham a couple of nights ago, a Genex one and an RAF Avia one. The RAF Avia one was the same one next to the plane I was flying on from Cluj in Romania a few months ago. I took some pics of it from the window of the ATR. The Cavok AN-12 seem to be doing daily runs from Leipzig to Ghardia a lot at the moment, and some going to the top of Norway.
A couple of months ago there were quite a few going to the US often going out via St Johns and back via some Portuguese island. Great to see an AN-12 over the US, can't imagine that in the 60's or 70's

It has been a while, but at 03:10 I woke up to the buzz of the (closed) windows and the unmistakeable AN-12 sound. I just rewound it on FR24 and it wasn't even all that close to me. This one was CVK7092 from Casablanca to Prestwick at 22,000 feet and my house is 10 miles away from the closesr point of the track.
Still not actually seen one.
