On reflection I think Kings and Queens are better. Perhaps in a few years we will launch HMS King Charles III - though whether it's a proper fighting ship or a Hoseasons hireboat with quick-firing .177 air pistol remains to be seen.

I think the only PM worthy of a ship name is Winston Churchill.

'HMS Edward Milliband'. fking hell where's my passport, time to emigrate....
You could always call it the HMS Margaret Thatcher and send it to the Falklands on patrol.

I remember seeing the Abraham Lincoln on tour of san diego harbour some years back, quite an impressive sight. The place is huge, just this one base had nearly as many ships as our entire navy put together.

The crew will be gutted - they missed the opportunity to visit 'Joanna's' on Southsea sea front.

I would say that was quite conservative. That assumes that every sailor spends 300.00 on shore.
Does not take into account the people like myself who will be travelling into Portsmouth to see her.

Below pic stolen from someone else at the flying club. Will post my own pics up once I've got them off the camera.

As long as you keep out of the restricted area 1nm radius 1,500ft AMSL, noticed a plane yesterday lunch time giving it a go at height.

Of course... NOTAM's read before flight. I was up at about 2000' on my flight. Sergey looks a bit lower from his photo, but I know he has a massive lens on his camera!

I was thinking the same, I wouldn't go near flying anywhere near that thing, NOTAMs obeyed or not!
Top pic though.

One of the best things to do is hop on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne car ferry as a foot passenger which is what I did yesterday.. Some good shots from there as it passes reasonably close by. Taken with a 40D and 55-250mm lens...

My mother and grandmother went down to the bay to have a look yesterday.
