I have had a theory for a while that Airbus have possibly sold the new aircraft at a heavy discount, to replace some of the earliest into entry service. which will allow the 2nd hand aircraft into the market for customers who want to buy 2nd hand?

Air France not supporting a European engine manufacture!

I can't see a lot of point; the only thing you're saving on would be wages, and that's a pretty small part of overhead compared to materials, machinery and factory costs. I could believe it if Airbus did it in exchange for the chinese buying a stload of aircraft though.
