2 1/2 million sounds absurdly cheap for such a historical plane.

It's been up for sale for around a year. I believe the value/interest is due to it being a complete new aircraft, certainly when I've seen it lined up with more original spitfires you can tell straight away its new.

However I like the underside paintjob and if I had the money of course I'd have to purchase it.

Might be what Chris Evans was talking about this morning.
Billionaire took two of them to Duxford and asked for them to be restored to flying condition.
He has gifted one to the museum and is selling the other, donating the funds to charity.
Top bloke.

Indeed. An American chap as well IIRC.

Shame though he decided to donate a perfectly serviceable and airworthy a/c to the IWM though where it will get just get parked up as a static exhibit...... frown

No, that's the other one, which is the one the owner has donated to the IWM.
