I'm Sure there are many more impressive stations in the world but for sheer drama, the thameslink platforms at Blackfriars takes some beating?

There is just "something" about stations on ridges.

Not Necessarily "great" but Leeds City is built over the River Aire. Not so much bridges as Tunnels.

Pffft, it's just a modern knock off of Temple Meads.

Barlow's train shed and George Gilbert Scott's Midland Grand Hotel were built at the same time (if not a couple of years before) the extension to Bristol Temple Meads shown in your photos.

to define the drama...you emerge from the tunnel to be presented with a 360 Degree panoramic view of London, it really is quite an amazing view and you count off the major landmarks one by one.

There is/was a pub within walking distance.

Yes. Hence the name, Berney Arms wink

There is a station called Portsmouth Arms, between Exeter and Barnstaple, also named after the local hostelry, and there was once a Trouble House Halt between Kemble and Tetbury, once again named after a boozer.

How that pub got the name "Trouble House" is probably lost in history...

you can name a couple of dozen stations with amazing atmospheres especially at night. Add in some proper diesel sounds and if you are really lucky a steam loco. The big overall roofs just seem to hold and echo the noise
