Just heard a rumour that the Americans are going to temporarily base 4 x B52's and 2 x B2's at Fairford from 25th May.

Saw both types flying in/out of Fairford during the Balkans kerfuffle. You could park near the end of the runway at that time, not sure about these days. They were quite impressive.

You still could in 2003 for the second Gulf War.

The only reason I remember that night is that one of my friends had one of the very first smartphones (Orange SPV) and was playing with it as we stood at the fence waiting for something to happen. A police officer wandered over and expressed an interest in what he was looking at.

He said "can you get porn on that thing?"

Drove down there a few times in back Feb 1991 during GW1 and watched bombed-up BUFF's taking off for Iraq/Kuwait......can't believe that's almost 25 years ago now

It was a strange feeling sitting there on my way home from the office eating a toffee crisp watching these machines rise from the peaceful Gloucestershire countryside to inflict death and carnage a few thousand miles away.

There was no visible security to stop a Serb with a sense of adventure and an RPG trying to bring one down.

C5 arrived yesterday, and another on approach now.
Apparently the bombers are due Friday.

(I'm told that) based on the fact that the C5's that visited over the last couple of days originated at Minot and Whiteman, it's highly likely that we will see B52's and B2's

I have seen B52's & the Stealth.

However a B1B.......

That's on my bucket list.
