On Thursday 6 Sea Kings will fly around West Cornwall to celebrate their 76th birthday.

Will be sad to see them go!

I will be sorry to see them go. I've holidayed in Cornwall for years - usually messing about in a boat when there - & been used to helicopters from Culdrose buzzing around.
Always go down well with their performances with the lifeboats on the various lifeboat days.
I do remember in the 70's when they were still using the Wessex that it wasn't unusual for them to lower a bucket with bottles of beer down to one of the fishing boats & the boat crew would fill the bucket with fresh mackerel or crabs smile
Hopefully the level of service won't be reduced, but it is a worry.

Bristow have been operating SAR for many years with a lot of ex military crews so I doubt you will notice any reduction in quality of service. In fact the new aircraft are better equipped for the job.

I'm glad I've seen this as I'm in the area this week, let's hope the wind drops a bit for Thursday.

Beautiful day for it in Cornwall, I'll attempt to get a couple of camera phone pics.

Full zoom on the phone so pretty poor I'm afraid.

The single aircraft looks like a merlin and is probably the camera aircraft and whip.

I'm led to believe from another forum that one of the aircraft was re-routed to a shout.

Hi, would you mind if I posted your top pic on Facebook please? I've a few friends on there with FAA/Sea King connections who I am sure would like to see that shot.
