I'm sure there's a spitfire flying over long Eaton and to the west of here, it's 8 pm. I can hear it and saw it briefly. Iirc isn't there one based at EMA?

Im in derby and I deffo heard a merlin. Couldnt see it, however

Likely to the the one owned by Rolls Royce which is based at EMA.

I have seen it a fair few times whilst walking the dogs around the perimeter and it displayed over Donington Park at the recent historic race festival.

Most Spitfires were indeed Merlin powered but a substantial number from 1942 on were Griffon engined.
